7 Reasons to Choose Eco-Friendly Cosmetics

Dr Hazem Sawaf • Mar 28, 2021

Why choose organic beauty products? The answer, is simple: why not?

We realize that we live in the 21st century, an age in which technological innovations have transformed our world. Many inventions have allowed us to live better but many others, however, are slowly polluting our body. And in this second group, I want to include non-natural cosmetic.

We list some of the reasons that should push you to buy natural beauty products:

1. They are made with only natural ingredients

Skincare manufacturers in the UK use only eco-sustainable products or products derived from the plant world.

For the most part, these are vegan products or products that do not alter the natural ecosystem. Even a natural sponge is collected respecting the marine environment. Just like tree extracts or fruit oils.

2. They nourish the skin

All the beauty products you find on the market have the aim of "beautifying".

There is, however, a substantial difference that should not be underestimated. Industrial cosmetics, made using silicones, heavy metals or petroleum derivatives, offer only apparent beauty.

Have you ever used lipstick and have the feeling of having used an adhesive film on your lips?

Natural ingredients, on the other hand, delicately penetrate the skin tissue, supporting the skin with detoxifying and purifying ingredients.

3. They Are Also Suitable for Those with Sensitive Skin

The absence of toxic substances and the exclusive presence of ingredients derived from certified organic farming has a further advantage.

These products, as natural oils and extracts, are suitable for those with sensitive skin.

For those prone to skin irritation or real allergic forms, they must not only resort to pharmaceutical products. Organic beauty products allow you to always have fashionable make-up without damaging your skin. And if this applies to sensitive people, then it will apply to everyone.

4. They Enjoy Quality Certifications

The "certifications" are quality awards created to ensure that a product has certain characteristics.

If you find it indicated that the cosmetic is guaranteed by BDIH, COSMEBIO, ECOCERT Greenlife, ICEA or SOIL Association you can rest assured.

All these international organizations have approved the “Cosmetic Organic Standard”.

To make it easier, you just need to know that 95% of the ingredients must come from natural products.

5. As Nature Intended!

Massaging your body with olive oil or creating exfoliating packs with brown sugar and almond flour are the remedies that our grandmothers used in the past and that, still today, are considered valid by dermatologists. Why have we strayed so far from nature?

The ingredients have remained the same but habits have changed.

With certified natural products, however, you will have, in a single lotion, scrub or cosmetic, the benefits of natural plant products.

6. They Respect the Environment

Industrial cosmetic products are not only harmful to our body but the presence of silicones, synthetic ingredients and petroleum derivatives pollute the environment. In cosmetic industries, fumes contaminate the air, waste is dispersed in water and the soil.

Organic cosmetics are also environmentally friendly because they don’t encourage deforestation or the use of pesticides.

By applying a natural or organic eyeshadow or organic sunscreen you will not only take care of yourself but also of the planet Earth.

7. It’s a Millennial Fashion

Organic and Natural cosmetics is not a “female only” product.

Organic cosmetics for men are a growing sector. Indeed, men have finally understood that their bodies must be treated with care. Long gone are the days where men applying moisturiser was seen as emasculating. Today, men make up a huge part of the cosmetics industry, from face creams, lotions and eyeshadow – Men’s interest in beauty has seen a spike in recent years. Research in the United States predicts the market will hit $166 billion by 2022, noting that men’s skincare sales have leapt 7% within the last year. There now are many private label skin manufacturers creating wonderful products for men – all natural and all organic.
